Arggh - pyracy - nothing new there, Jim Hawkins, m'lad.
Philippe Mora, in today's online Sydney Morning Herald, writes a muddled whinge about his films being pirated. A lone gem in his article is the mention that way back in 1703, Daniel Defoe was complaining about one of his novels being pirated.
Philippe Mora didn't give a reference but Wikipedia agrees with him, quoting The Oxford English Dictionary - - An early reference to piracy in the context of copyright infringement was made by Daniel Defoe in 1703 when he said of his novel The True-Born Englishman that "Its being Printed again and again, by Pyrates". |
