PRS-505 Contrast increase possible?
I read some time ago, that the PRS-500's contrast can be adjusted. I just wonder, if this is also possible for the PRS-505?
I've seen pictures of disassembled PRS-505, but couldn't find the appropriate counterpart of variable resistor in the pictures. Did anyone try on his 505? |

Check the posts within the forum for pictures of a stripped PRS-500. PRS-500 has a variable resistor that can be set for contrast. I was just wondering if someone had opened his 505 and seen something similar. I just seem to have a very light contrast, so my pages look more grayish than black. I would love to bump my contrast a little up.

A similar adjustment might exist on other units but I am not knowledgeable of these facts. You might want to ask obelix (post #1) or igorsk (post #3). Either of them should be able to shed some light on this subject. |

Thanks for the hint. Just need to think of it, once I get back from work. By the way, NC is a great place to live (been there for 3 years).

After contacting Igorsk I just checked the service manual. Actually, there is a variable resistor that seems to set the "black"-level of the display. Unfortunately it looks as if one has to disassemble the whole unit before you can get to the VR.
So at this point I don't know if it makes sense to adjust the VR without immediately seeing the effects of the new settings. Did anyone take apart his unit? I'm wondering if the readers innerts can just be moved out and the VR be adjusted without detaching the screen and the card reader slots. |
