Should Calibre take a long time to add a directory full of ebooks?
I have just installed Calibre, and told it to add a directory with 321 pdf ebooks to it's library. It's crawling along taking approx. 5 seconds for each book.
Is this normal? |

Depending on your hardware specs, that sounds about right.

you want it to go faster disable reading of metadata from the files. In the case of PDf every file has to be completely read into memory, and the first page rendered to become the cover.
