Apple dips into its past, brings back Newton developer
Just saw this on Yahoo news. The next step towards a ITablet?
Back in the day, Michael Tchao was one of the brains behind Apple's ahead-of-its-time PDA, the Newton. Now, apparently, he's back in Cupertino as VP of "product marketing." Could Tchao's return have something to do with Apple's rumored touchscreen "iTablet"? Inquiring minds want to know. The New York Times reports that Tchao, who originally left Apple about 15 years ago after the groundbreaking Newton MessagePads failed to take off, was back on campus Monday, where he presumably got a new ID badge and a new title: vice president of product marketing, reporting to Apple SVP Phil Schiller. Well the rumor is that Steve Jobs has been working pretty solidly on the tablet since returning, but who knows. I've been burned by tablet rumors too many times hehe.
I'll hold off on buying something else because of tablet rumors. The latest rumor involves a Jan 2010 release *shrug* |

maybe we'd have to wait for the next WWDC in 2010 to find this one out. Apple is one of the best innovators out there.. so I wouldn't be surprised if they will surprise us again.
