Particular ePub doesn't show content
I can open all ePub books from my public library, but the one from my college library has no content (shows title, but no text). Are there some ePub books that have protection?

It is called DRM (the generic term for protection methods).

When you check out (or buy) a book (with DRM), it is for the REGISTERED DEVICE ONLY.

Are there some ePubs that will not allow DRM to be removed (protection that will not allow DRM to be removed)?
(because this book is the first that has not opened in Calibre)

Yes, and textbooks often fall in this category (hardened DRM). OTOH, maybe your deDRM plugin is outdated.
