Bookdesigner - Centering Title Author...
Hey everyone! I've been using Bookdesigner to format a bunch of Gutenburg books! Let me first say what a cool program! I'm getting pretty fast at setting up a book and converting it to .lrf!! My question is, does anyone know how to center the Title, author, and their picture? Centered on the page top and bottom? When you change the text to either "Book Author" or "Book Title", it automatically centers the text left to right. I can't however seem to figure out how to center the text top to bottom! Any hints or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks! Dave |

hmmm, I never Saw a way to get that effect.
but, You could Always Create an Image file the Size of the Reader, and Use that as your Title Page. Include any information you want on the Image, and then drag and drop it into book designer |

You can centre it for a particular text size by adding in the appropriate number of blank lines. The trouble is, though, that if the user changes the text size, it's not going to be centred any more.
The concept of "pages" (and hence vertical centering) doesn't really fit in terribly well with eBooks. |

That sounds like a good idea...taking say...a screen shot of my title page and cropping it down to fit on one page...
Hmm..I'll have to play around with that and see if I can get it to work. Thanks! Dave |

Resize or crop to 800 by 600 pixels. This is the size of a Sony or Cybook screen.

FeedBooks does something like this for ePub, using padding-top: in its title.css. Download any FeedBooks ePub and unzip it to see how it is done. However, this may not be possible in Book Designer. Alternatively, Adobe in its EPUB Best Practices Guide suggests using SVG graphics to build the cover page, including the title and author text. This definitely isn't possible in Book Designer.
If you do build an ePub cover page, Calibre's epub-meta command has a --get-cover option which extracts the 1st page of the ePub as a 600x800 JPG image. This would be one way to get a cover image for non-ePub versions. |
