Disabling automatic reboot after an OTA update
I wonder whether anybody has analyzed the OTA update APP to see how it performs a reboot after updating? It would be better if this could be injected to forbid the reboot, so that we can patch boot partition in Magisk right after an update to keep root. Thanks.

It just means that it boots up unrooted, then you Magisk the book image from the update and flash it. See: Rooting the Poke5 |

1. A delta update is available, and then it is possible that there is no complete boot partition there; 2. I have to download the update from a computer where adb and fastboot are available (this is not always the case). I imagine that if such an injection is possible via, say, a magisk module, then I can perform this on Onyx Boox without computer. |

You can use EDL to pull the boot image, but of course that requires an external computer.
