plugboard not changing title when sent direct to Kindle
Hi all,
I've been sideloading .mobi books from my Mac to Kindle by dragging and dropping the .mobi file into Kindle. To get around the book series sequence issues, I've been using the Metadata Plugboard to change the title of the book when exporting .epub to .mobi using this script: {series} {series_index:0>2s|#|-}{title} when I export the file to a folder, and when I drag/drop into the Kindle, the filename (and the book title) shows up correctly for book series "The Sword of Truth", book #2, book title :Stone of Tears": Sword of Truth, The #02-Stone of Tears.mobi However recently I decided that I would like the book cover to show up on my kindle. So I started to directly export the .mobi books to my kindle. Now the cover shows up okay, but the book title when directly exported from Calibre to Kindle, it reverts back to just the book title, making sorting the book sequence in the series impossible: Stone of Tears when I look in the kindle via the Finder, the filename correctly shows the series name and sequence number. but seems like I am not setting up the export direct to Kindle to keep the Series_name_#xx-BookTitle format. what am I missing? the plugboard looks like this: Edit existing plugboard: mobi KINDLE {series} {series_index:0>2s|#|-}{title} title sort Why does the Book title revert back to just the title when exported directly from Calibre, while side-loading (drag and drop the .mobi file) will show the book title with series name? Ah, I think I just figured it out myself.
what it took was to 1. first delete the KINDLE plugboard... 2. re-create a new one for KINDLE (again) with the script 3. set the destination field to "title" 4. remove the .mobi in the Calibre library, then 5. re-send to device... and VOILA! not sure if it was one thing that would have fixed this, or i needed to do all five steps. but it's working now, and I'm happy! so key was for me to change from "title sort" to "title", and force Calibre to re-convert the epub to mobi... yay! |
