Processor Microsoft SQ2 - type ARM
Hello !
I'm going to buy a "Microsoft Surface pro X". This tablet has a "Microsoft SQ2" processor of type "ARM". Anyone know if there is a compatibility issue with Calibre ? The SQ2 processor is incompatible with some "X64" applications. Thank you for your answers |

calibre on windows has no ARM support. How well it works with whatever translation/emulation layer microsoft uses for intel binaries, I have no idea.

NO.
All x64 and x86 applications are incompatible with the SQ2 because it's in the ARM family. Microsoft has some sort of emulator/translator. It might use native ARM code for all equivalent Windows system calls, like WOW did on x86 32 bit for 16 bit and WOW on x64 does for x86 32 bit (if you are lucky). Many VB6 Windows programs won't run on any 64 bit Intel/AMD cpu windows. Some x64 Windows applications will run on the MS emulator on SQ2/ |
