Calibre metadata search Showing list of authors

Hello
I miss a view showing all the authors and I am not a fan of the file browser view to look for the authors.
Nevertheless in the "calibre metadata search" I can get a view of all the series and all of the tags : by leaving the field in blank and tapoing on "browse series" button, I get a view of all the series in alphabetical orders
The same with the "browse tags" button.
Would it be it possible to add a "browse authors" button in this feature ? it will allow to get the view of all authors

Thanks
Villard

Hi.

Nice suggestion. It should be really easy to do. I will look at it when I have a moment.

@pazos: Heads up, I might be doing that tonight .

(And I figure I'll add titles to the list, too).

Great!

IIRC the "general" search can be configured to match title, author & path. But I don't remember what happens if you do an empty search (I guess nothing).

So splitting the "general" search into browse titles/authors that behave like the other browse buttons makes sense to me. I think nobody will miss the search by path feature

Not sure about getting the number of documents by title, because most of the titles are unique. For authors it does and if my memory doesn't fail it should be exactly the same we're doing for tags.

@pazos, @NiLuJe
you're great ! thank you very much !

as said by pazos, the view by title doesn't seem to be neccessary.
I would prefer to add a view by descending added date in order to get the recent books

Your previous request it's almost there, in https://github.com/koreader/koreader/pull/10113

Your new request cannot be done as easily. Not sure if it's even possible with the set of metadata calibre pushes to devices.

Wouah , so quicky, I am eager to get the next release; thanks a lot !

About the "date" button : I was thinking to use the Calibre field "timestamp" . I think it is well pushed to Koreader.

But I'm not able to implement something there ! I rely on your skills.
Anyway having the author button will be already very great and useful
Thanks again

It's not the date of the push to device, it's the date of the initial import in calibre.

And we currently don't keep it around .

(The filemanager has timestamp-aware sorting methods that *will* reflect that, though (i.e., sort by "date added").
