Calibre doesn't launch on Windows 10.
Hi everyone.
This is my first post, so I'm sorry if I do something wrong. I'm having issues trying to launch Calibre on my PC. Also, I've uninstalled, installed the 6.12.0 version, update all my drivers, and installed all Windows updates. Nothing has worked D: Here all info from CMD Quote:

That is it?
What does Task Manager show (is calibre anything on the list)? Because that leads me to believe Calibre is still running. |

Its just offscreen, use the windows shortcut to bring offscreen windows back to the main screen.

'Cascade windows' on the taskbar also helps, though it's not available on all versions of Windows. (It should on 10, though; the caveat is more for the future people who come across this thread. )

Hi, everyone!
I tried your recommendations, but the problem persists. Also, I executed three commands on CMD, but they didn't help. Quote:
EDIT: I tried launching Calibre in Safe mode and it worked, but remains the same in normal mode. Thanks for your help, guys! Last edited by Alice_Reizner; 02-14-2023 at 12:19 PM. |

alt+space M
Then Left arrow a bunch of times (it should start to move on screen if it is off to the right, the most common) |

Quoth has the simplest way, catch Calibre while it has focus
Another way to get focus on a specific app Alt+Tab (keep holding Alt), Tab again until Calibre has a highlight. Release Alt |

Just tried Alt Tab on Linux Mint with Mate Desktop, Server 2003 theme but XP Metallic decorations and Oxygen icons using Marco and Compositor (window manager) and it works. No assurance on any other Linux desktop or Window manager. I also have a sort of panel pop-out on all four edges of the screen: Top is menu, terminal, kill application, view system/Processes (like Win properties & task manager), and buttons of running programs only on current workspace. Bottom is status & notifications (like taskbar notifications/tray), time-date, lock, log-out, quit (shutdown, restart etc). Also the 4 workspace previews/selectors (like 4 desktops). Left is one click icons for common programs only accessing Local and Right is one click icons for anything needing LAN or Internet. The Desktop only has icons for mounted shares and storage devices and 3 x VMs. NT4.0 (Still could have multipane File Manager), Win2000, XP were very flexible. Vista & W7 less so. Win10 seems like Windows 2.0 on Hercules Mono in terms of flexibility. Last edited by Quoth; 02-14-2023 at 03:14 PM. |

Same issue
I have two graphics cards and two monitors. Due to cable issues, my main monitor is off of my second graphics card. I set the second monitor to be the primary in BIOS, so it boots to that monitor, but Calibre won't launch unless I have the other monitor on and displaying. Even if I disconnect the other monitor so that the system only sees one monitor in display settings, Calibre won't display. It shows in the task manager, but it's not displaying anywhere (I looked for it using the recommendations above).
Any thoughts? is this a known issue? Thanks. |
