Controlling revisions in editor

I am converting a paper cookbook to epub. I have built a bunch of .odt files from docx files (originally converted to epub format in Libre writer) before finding out how to do it in Calibre. I dont have any experience in HTML programming so this is all new to me. Here is my first question.

Is there any way to revert to a previous version of a epub file i created?

I had a file that i was pretty happy with but wanted to embed a TOC into the book. I saved the file to disk, them reconverted the book and selected the embed toc option in the conversion tool. How in the editor i have about 200+ files under the text section of the file browser. I just want to back up to the previous version of the book. Is there any way to do it?

Unless you saved a backup copy, no.

I did save a copy via the "save to disk" command. Can I open it to see a previous version?

Just a suggestion - you can use the Editor outside of the Calibre GUI and file structure. Just put the starting copy in a project folder somewhere outside the Calibre library. Then point to it with your file manager, right-click and do an "open with" -- you should be able to open it with the Editor.

The advantage is you can call these "outside Calibre" versions anything you want, like MyBook v1.epub", then "Mybook v2.epub" and so on. Inside Calibre you can't so easily control versions, since Calibre is in charge of the file names.. To check the results of your edits, you can open them with the Viewer the same way, no need to drag every version into the GUI.
