highlighting text overrides original color body text

hello, id like to report that when using the highlighting feature, it will override the original color of the body text in the e-book reader.

for example, I use the Bible niv in the e-book viewer.

I have the red letter version

which means that some words in the New Testament are in red.

if I highlight over these words, the red body text changes color with the background highlighting. is there a way to fix this? thank you so much

Use a non color based highlight style such as the underline one.

is there a way to override it with css? make highlight inherit the body text color instead?

No, you cant control it via css. And it does inherit body text color. What it does not inherit is current text color. For that, use an underline style.
