New book files on Mars
This is an ongoing irritation, when I copy new book files onto my Mars it takes ages for them to be recognized on the built in Reading app. They do not show in the recently added or anywhere else. After some time, and perhaps after adding them via the file manager they are eventually shown.
I am only talking about the native reading app, they are shown immediately in the file manager and perhaps elsewhere. Rebooting does not seem to help. I am running android 6. The books were added to the SD card. Anyone know of a way to speed up the process as I have no idea how it finally gets triggered. One time I wiped the SD card by mistake and it took literally weeks before all the information was up and running again... |

Well ernieh I'm an unexceptional user and can confirm from what you have posted that this is par for the course. My Alita behaves exactly the same way. As the Boyue native app is supposed to be useful for taking notes I spent quite a while on it. It didn't come close to doing what I expected and it's not likely it ever will. My books are saved to an SD card but I avoid the issues that are annoying you by using a reading app. My choice is Librera but there are others that are recommended. I can't go straight to the book I'm reading but I can live with that. After a while you just want to get on and read stuff rather than fight the e-reader for control.

I'm content using Calibre Companion for library management and KOReader for reading.

I've had the same problem. And if I use another library app and then select to open with the built-in app, I get a blank screen and then return to the library app.
If you can't do swipes, then avoid KOReader. If you can't withstand strobing, then avoid Xodo. |

Hi MarjaE
IIRC there're no swipe requirements on the core features of KO. (You need swipes to highlight, for gestures and *optionally* to activate and navigate menus instead of finger touch). Please correct me if I'm wrong. I adapted KO sucesfully for people with input disabilities, so I'm pretty confident any remaining issues can be ironed out (as long as you're fine with touchscreens & no gestures, if that's not the case any input device can drive KO with a bit of configuration) |

In the library view select "scan books" (or whatever it's called) from the top right menu.
