I’ll be upgrading from my iPhone 7. I like having a home button.

Nice phone. I have a XR. I like the larger screen as when I'm out and about and don't carry a kindle for reading I can read on my phone. The 4.7 is a bit small for my eyes.
But I'm glad they released something like this. I like the fact that it can have 256 gb of memory. My XR is only 64 GB so I have to compress music from lossless to 256 kb aac files to get much on it. With 256 GB I could put a punch of lossless files on it. |

Very tempted to make a switch since I'd like a small smartphone (my favorite will always be the original SE). I've read rumors about iPhone 12 with 5.4" screen will have around same dimensions as than this new SE. If so I would probably wait for that for edge-to-edge screen.

The only issue I have with the SE is no 5G. That means if you want 5G, this isn't the phone for you.

It looks like I now know which mobile I'll be getting second-hand in a couple of years.

I was firmly convinced that I want to wait for 5G for my next phone, but I just did a speed test with LTE and got 72 Mbps download and 20 Mbps upload. My Wifi speed test on the same iPhone clocks in at 484 Mbps download and 42 Mbps upload. Still, I like the larger screen size of the Plus models, so I'll hold off and see what the fall brings. |

I still have my old iPhone 5, although I rarely turn it on as I kept it just for a backup many phones back in time and never got rid of it. After having a 6 Plus and now an XR, whenever I do power up the 5 its tiny 4" screen is REALLY small! Not much screen real-estate for current apps.
As far 5G, well I still think that is way over hyped. Despite the ads on TV from all the shiesty cellular companies who continuously lie to us and over charge us for everything, I seriously doubt it will have decent coverage anywhere but high population areas, and right now those are the last places you want to be. Besides, I’m not one to spend a lot of time on my phone when I’m out and about. As long as I can have decent cellular coverage when out and about, and really good WiFi speed at home, that is all I need. Although I’m not interested in this new SE, I do think it was a good idea to offer a cheaper iPhone. I know Apple had no idea the economy would tank due to a pandemic, but that might help the sales of the new SE as people tighten their money belts. |

This is basically iPhone 8 with an upgraded processor, but selling for much less. I think it will sell very well. I’m trying to talk my wife into letting me buy one to replace her SE (1st gen), which seems in need of a battery replacement (and so I can have the SE to play with! I love how comfortable it is to hold). She doesn’t do much with it other than pictures, text, calling, and some FaceTime. She probably won’t need another phone for 4 years or more.
The one thing I don’t like about the TouchID iPhones (as someone who has FaceID iPhone) is that I keep wanting to swipe up from bottom to go Home (which works on iPad with TouchID and of course FaceID devices) and to invoke task switcher. Don’t like needing to double press the button. I have had it explained to me why Apple can’t change the behavior to match everything else on iOS, but I still don’t understand. Something about breaking apps that don’t expect the ‘affordance’ UI to be at bottom of screen. |

I have a face I’d iPhone XR but both of my iPads are touch I’d. Yep, it can get confusing having to deal with two different systems! It took a while to acclimate to the differences, but eventually it became entrenched in my muscle memory. Unfortunately my neighbors probably learned a lot of new curse words before that happened!
BTW, face I’d doesn’t work with a face mask on, so when out in public I’ve had to resort to the old fashion typing of the password. ALSO, my iPad is changing I’d from all caps to “I’d”, aaargh! I’ll need to fix that. I definitely find that annoying. |

I had the iPhone 11 in yellow. Paid high price to trade it in 2 months later to get the iPhone 11 pro in Gold. Regret doing it. iPhone 11 yellow was perfectly good. I really want the green iPhone 11 or this new SE in white but I can't justify the cost

I remember groaning when Apple went from 4 to 6 digit passcodes. Geez, now I have to type 2 more numbers! I think we've gotten spoiled and lazy with the Touch and Face IDs!

FYI: Apple is now taking pre-orders for the new SE.
