Urquhart, Paul: The Turmoil (1915)
"Paul Urquhart" is the pseudonym of Ladbroke Black and Thomas Meech.
Although published as a book in 1915, is was serialised in 1914 and was clearly written before WW1. An adventurous young man stumbles on a brutal murder and a distraught young woman. A gang of unknown origin bashes him unconscious and kidnaps the young woman. From that launching point we step into the murky world of anarchists, meet an eccentric inventor and his new airplane, and uncover the secret of the murder and the kidnapped young woman. This edition is from the newspaper serial, as published in Australian newspapers The Newcastle Morning Herald, and the Camperdown Chronicle, in 1914-5.
