Wide margins on Mobileread
Is it really necessary to have such wide margins on the Mobileread site. It is a bit of a pet hate of mine that so many sites waste large amounts of space on the screen.
I increase the font size *2 on most web pages and often end up with a ten word column down the middle of the page, agggghhhh! Could this be a user setting of some kind if you don't want to make a global change? Many thanks for a great site even so. |

I'm not on staff, but feel confident in the answer: this site, as with most well-designed sites, is designed to fit the width of a monitor with 1024x768 resolution, the most common resolution. Furthermore, it is set to center on the screen. Thus the "wide margins" are an artifact of you using a higher resolution monitor.

Jay, in the bottom left, there is a drop-down menu allowing you to switch from "fixed" to "liquid".

it might be useful for you to switch to "liquid" display : scroll to the bottom of the page and on the left side of the blue bar you'll see a dropdown menu : select "liquid". this allows the site to adapt to the window size instead of forcing a fixed width. it should help.
