Another Audible heads up

Browsing at the audiobooks group at Goodreads, I've learned that the wrinkle no longer works where you could put one book in your cart during a BOGO sale and it would still be there next sale. It's not a dealbreaker, of course, but it was handy when there was only one book you wanted. So now, if it's book you'd get eventually anyway, it's probably worth finding almost anything in the sale to pair with it.

I gather Audible has also cracked down on gifting specific ebooks, but I haven't experimented with it.

There have been some odd changes at Audible. Usually, when you browse audible books and you browse a book your have already bought, it tells you already in your library. I just noticed today that one of the Kate Daniels books showed a buy button rather than a already in your library link. When I looked at the whole series, the first half of the series showed the buy button, while the second half showed in my library. When I look in my library, they are all there. What's more, all my pre-orders disappeared.

I've had this happen when the publisher of the audiobook changes (even though the actual recording isn't always different) or when a publisher puts out a new edition that uses a different ASIN. (same thing happens with Kindle books sometimes)

It could be. The new audiobooks show as coming out this year, although I bought them back in 2013 and the narrator is the same.

Tantor is the original audio publisher of the Kate Daniels series. They were bought by another audio publisher a little while ago. Perhaps they are transitioning the catalog from one publisher to another even though they're not different recordings?

Not great for helping people keep track of their audio libraries but maybe not entirely an Audible issue.

I never could understand why a company should not be held accountable for the lack of quality control in their product, simply because they outsourced the maintenance of it to someone else, in this case the publishers. This goes for Amazon, who owns Audible, as well as businesses such as grocery stores and superstores such as Walmart, which use the same business model.
