Creat a custom column (timestamp/date type) . Fill in the date
with the cursor in the column: F2, then hit the = key (+ stands for NOW)

Sorry, I didn't understand that, do I enter this in the "lookup name" part?

A custom column has 3 parts. 2 are set when constructing.
The Label and the Lookup name (name_here without the #)
The Label is what you see over the column and in other displays.
The lookup name (always starts with a#) is used for searches and templates

Data is enter per book or in MDE bulk mode
= and - are simply shortcuts for Now or Clear
