EpubCheck version 4.0.2 is now available: https://github.com/IDPF/epubcheck/releases

Important security fix

This version includes a fix for a critical security vulnerability (CVE-2016-9487) which may, under some circumstances, enable a remote attacker to access arbitrary files on the system where EpubCheck is running.

All users should update to EpubCheck 4.0.2 as soon as possible.

Special thanks to Craig Arendt for having identified the vulnerability and disclosed it privately to EpubCheck's team.

EPUB-Checker has recently been updated to epubcheck 4.0.2.

I'm sorry to expose my ignorance yet again, but how does one install the new version? I had a quick look inside the zip file, but couldn't see anything like an install file.

And there were a lot of jar files; I don't remember seeing them in the previous version.

If you're looking for the standalone pagina EPUB-Checker, you'll need to download it from the pagina website.

If you're looking for the Sigil plugin, it can be found here. (Download and install EpubCheck_v0.3.9.zip.)
