PW2 bricked after jailbreak attempt... forever!?
It's a Kindle PW2 4Gb that shows the attached message. I don't know its history. Do you have a repair starting point suggestion, or is it useless? Thanks

Time to extract some firmware images and search the scripts for "j5_rootfs_repartioning", though that sounds more like a hack message than a lab126 message...
Did somebody try doing this to it? https://wiki.mobileread.com/wiki/Repartition_the_Kindle If all else fails, you can repair it using the internal TTL serial port. |

That is not a factory message.
You are looking at a seriously altered Kindle, either similar to the link given above or one of the attempts to install Android on it. Peel it open, see if the serial port connections are still on the board or if they have been ripped off. If you can still make connection to the serial port, read through one (or more) of our serial port de-bricking threads. I would suggest the one that uses fastboot to recover a device from mis-use of the 'erase all' command. (When searching here, it is the only thread with fastboot in its title.) If you can not still make connection to the serial port, you have just purchased a spare screen. |

Now as knc1 and geekmaster both pointed out is the serial port intact? You will have to open up the kindle to see if it is there. |

There is a thread in this forum about it, somewhere.
It doesn't get much attention here, because it is a closed source process. Note: firmware 5.8.x includes adb server now, so we may not have too long to wait for an "official" version. |
