Calibre - Unable to Connect with Kindle Fire
Hi,
I am having an issue trying to connection my Kindle Fire now that I have upgraded to Windows 10. Previously when I was running Windows 7 I could connect without any issues. When I connect the Kindle now, windows sees it and it shows up under my PC and I can see the Internal Storage folders. For some reason Calibe is just not connection to it so I can transfer books over to it. Here is debug dump if anyone figure out why I can't connect with Calibre. It looks like Calibre sees it as well, but I just don't have the option to transfer books over to it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Dave Spoiler:

Probably it's just taking a while to scan your device, look at the background job icon int he bottom right,. is it spinning?

Run calibre in debug mode and post the log when plugging in your device (right click the preferences button to restart in debug mode)
@katie: There were no changes to device interaction in the last calibre release, but feel free to downgrade to the previous release if you like, the link to the older versions is on the download page. |

Restart calibre in debug mode, plug in the device, wait five minutes, then quit calibre, then post thte log -- dont run debug device detection while waiting.

Here is the new log dump. I did not run device detection this time.

Hmm according to that calibre is not seeing your device at all. It isn't even trying to connect to it. And yet it connects to it when debugging device detection. I dont see how that is possible.
The only thing I can think of is you device might be taking a long time to "settle". So try plugging it in first, waiting a couple of minutes and then starting calibre. |

Is you device shown in Preferences: Ignored devices?

what worked for me
In 'Preferences', run the welcome wizard, but choose 'generic e-ink device' rather than 'Amazon kindle'. As soon as I tried that everything worked flawlessly like in the older calibre versions. Debugging did absolutely nothing, but this did.
