Hi
Is there a way to add ligatures to an AZW3 file after conversion (or during), when the source is an EPUB without ligatures ? I'm stuck to Caliber 1.48. Thanks. |

Ligatures in azw3 are usually a feature fo the font, so all you have to do is embed an OpenType font that has ligatures. If you are referring to unicode ligatures (of which there are a few in the Unicode standard) you can use the search & replace function in the conversion to search for and replace for example:
ff by its ligature, ffl by its ligature and so on. I'm not 100% certain if the required functionality is all in 1.48, but, I think it is. |

Thanks for you answer. I forgot to say that I've tried to replace ff with the unicode char ff, but after I close and reopen the file (in Calibre), the two 'f' are back.
It's a limitation of Calibre 1.48, I suppose. Isn't it? |

Hum…
Maybe the problem lies in the first line of each file : <?xml version='1.0' encoding='utf-8'?> ??? |

Dont forget to enable Keep ligatures in the look & feel section of the conversion dialog.

There were no ligatures in the entry file. I want to add them.
Anyway, I would like to have both ligatures and hyphenations in the AZW3 file. I suppose, it's incompatible without an advanced solution. |

The solution is to convert from AZW3 to AZW3 with a list of substitutions in the find and replace panel : ffl to ffl, ffi to ffi, ff to ff, fl to fl, fi to fi
There are two limitations: • st to st bugs Caliber • Each time the AZW3 is opened in the editor, the ligatures are gone. |

Isn't it a good feature for a plug-in ?
