Note that the performance they are referring to is their cost structure, not the quality of the hardware, software, or user support. Nate's verdict: Quote:

An "oldie but goodie" reminder of why B&N is squeezing Nook:
http://www.digitalbookworld.com/2014...nooks-decline/ Somehow they have managed the feat of never making a profit off Nook, even when they owned a quarter of the market and took in $400M in revenues. |

CNBC is saying B&N will save $13 million/yr and lay off 80 people in Santa Clara and 19 in Taiwan. Bahwan CyberTek has an office on the same street as B&N.

Wow. Nothing says "We are giving up on this product" like outsourcing fundamental aspects of it. B&N are clearly not interested in remaining in the ebook device market.
I just hope I manage to get my UK account transferred to Sainsburys. Amazing - they bought the biggest independent ebook retailer and squandered all its assets and good will. |

In a wonderful dream world, B&N just makes Nooks and Fictionwise is here to sell me ebooks.

Is there anyway to get our books off nook? All my fictionwise books went there when they closed.

It's the way the industry is heading. More and more companies are moving operations to save costs.

Considering all the technical issues B&N and Nook have been having (one of which you are experiencing), perhaps using this new company will be an improvement. B&N doesn't appear to be getting much (or satisfaction) from their 99-person IT team and $13+ million each year. |

Granted, it was all in the first six months, but it was hardly their fault their senior management changed their business model in a fit of hubris(?) thinking they could undercut Amazon on pricing or that they panicked and ran in circles changing strategic direction four times in18 months in 2013-14. |

So, at this point the only thing Nook does is (maybe) sign up the ebooks for sale and collect the money?
