iBooks for iCloud appears in iOS 9.3 Beta
Apple have released the first beta of iOS 9.3 today to registered developers. The public beta has yet to appear, but I expect that to turn up tomorrow.
This reportedly includes a new feature called iBooks for iCloud to allow synchronisation of non-Apple purchased content to and from the cloud. I'll be testing this as soon as the public beta appears. There's currently no indication as to when iOS 9.3 will be available for all devices. |

Where did you read that? It's not listed on the info page.

Never mind. I found info on Twitter.
It's called iCloud for iBooks, and it does exist. |

Exciting. Hoping they make it available via iCloud Document Picker too (but I get the feeling that's unlikely.)

I'm about as interested in this, as I was for the music things and photo things. All I see is that its a way for Apple to make you realise you need more storage. And buy it from them. Nope.

I really wish Amazon would compete with mich better desktop apps... On another note: in the update is also Apple's version of flux and it seems that this may well be the first real "for the readers" update in quite some time... |

I just detest being locked in anywhere. So I don't use iBooks ever since they started burying the books somewhere you can't find them, and if you can, the folder names are so obfuscated you have no idea whats there, in any case... I don't mind keeping my Calibre library in dropbox, and if it ever gets larger than the space I have available, I'll move it to somewhere I have more space, like Copy or Box.

What I like about iBooks though is how it makes no difference between bought and brought books... Also if you want to get a book out, just drag and drop it to the desktop...

I wonder if it include audible books.
I got out of the habit of using iBooks because of syncing between devices and iBooks really slowed down a lot when you have a big library. If they fixed it so iBooks is once again responsive, then I might give it a go. Hopefully, they will normalize how they handle audio books with this release (and, please Lord, let you automatically move to the next audiobook in a collection). |

Sorry, can someone clarify what improvements to iCloud for iBooks has to do with iOS 9.3?
Syncing non-Apple books appears to be live already: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204365 But it seems to require sync with iTunes app. Ick. Last edited by tomsem; 01-14-2016 at 10:53 PM. |

But yeah, this has always been possible, only now (9.3 and onwards) you will be able to upload books into iCloud and will not have to use iTunes (ick) anymore... |
