[Solved] clicking help or update available
hi,
i have a strange problem. When i click View? at the top or update at the bottom in case of an available update a local file opens, that has nothing to do with calibre. Is there a way to correct this behavior? Thanks in advance, webe Last edited by webe; 10-01-2015 at 02:20 PM. Reason: Problem solved |

@webe - can you tell use what operating system/version you use and what version of calibre.
Also full path of the 'local file' that opens and what program opens it - files need a program to open them. And a couple of screen shots if you think it would help. Off the top of my head I'm guessing there's something gone wrong with file associations that are set up at the operating system level. Of course First thing I did was to remove Help from tool bar, F1 from keyboard shortcuts, and I rely on RSS to tell me when there's a new version

Sorry for a mistake: It's not the View-icon but the Help-icon
@BetterRed: thanks for your reaction. My system is Ubuntu Precise 12.04 LTS My Calibre-version: 2.39 The file that is opened with FireFox when i click the Help-icon or the update-link is a local file named "index.html" (file:///media/HD2/podcasts/the%20roadhouse/index.html). I made it myself to keep an overview of downloaded blues podcasts. I know that in both cases i should be re-directed to Calibre-pages (manual en update) gr. webe Last edited by webe; 09-29-2015 at 05:23 AM. Reason: another addition |

@webe - then its something you have done with that file and firefox, I'm not familiar with Ubuntu - hopefully somebody who is will chime in.
However, something to try, change default browser to Chrome. BR |

I've solved my problem!
The cause of the problem was a desktop configuration file with the name ' Podcast' wherein the command: firefox "/media/HD2/podcasts/the roadhouse/index.html" and the file mimeapps.list with a lot of references to this file. Removing all references and the .desktop file solved my problem. Thanks for the reactions. gr. webe |
