SSH over wifi too slow

Hi all it was fun experience rooting my kindle and ssh ing to it ....i have enabled ssh over wifi and is working but it seems to be quite slow.....my wifi access point is the one created in ubuntu ....

Any suggestion why it is too slow....(it does not make sense to send files to it ....its that slow )

You ask a technical question without providing any technical information about the situation or equipment being used.

We don't stand much chance with only "its too slow" -
you might as well have told us "its broke".

Its kindle touch (3g + wifi)...Firmware 5.3.7.3

I have rooted using update (kindle-jailbreak-1.14.N) and installed usbnet 1.0.1

I am able to ssh through usb...and working great ...

next i have changed the config file of usbnet to USE_WIFI="true"

next i have changed iptable to accept ssh over wifi .....

Meanwhile I am using my laptop as access point (NOT HOTSPOT)....//so that it can work on android phones etc....//

I am able to ssh to my kindle via wifi ...but it seems too slow....i.e it takes ~1min to write letter 'l' on terminal when sshing over wifi ......

actually i am intrested to transfer files to kindle over wifi .....

Now use whatever tools you have on your laptop to tell us the technical details of the connection.

Background:
Wifi comes in various flavors, usually lettered (b, g, n) and each of them are variable speed.

Independant of the bit speed, Wifi can use several different types of securing the connection (including encryption) - that can also effect the overall speed.

I don't know what tools you may have on your laptop to diagnose its acess point operating conditions - you'll have to look.

Things that will help:
What band? (b, g, n) - - The K5 does b/g IIRC, pretty sure not n.

What channel? - - There are as many as a dozen different channels, if you (and all your neighbors within range) let the a.p. use the default (often channel 6) then you will have a lot of interference (and packet re-trys).

What speed setting? - - Each band supports multiple bit speeds and some a.p. will automatically scale the speed depending on connection quality (and interference).

What connection type? - - Both type of authentication and type connection. Some of the various encrypted version can be a heavy processing load for both or either end.

What - - <insert anything else your tools will tell you>

In general, your correct to question that connection - that sounds way too slow - it isn't your imagination.
