This is actually what I wanted from the Paperwhite when the Voyage was released. The raised bezel to me works a lot better than the smaller bezel that is flat with the navigation buttons. Keep getting accidental touches on the Voyage versus the Paperwhite I had. Looks like I may downgrade.

I like how they're advertising basic typography 'breakthroughs' that their competitors have had for ages now. For shame, Amazon.

I enjoy my PW2 and see no reason to upgrade. Also there will be a firmware upgrade sometime soon for the kindle devices that will include the updated text.

I don't really get the product positioning here. This will be same size as voyage, with same screen quality- but much cheaper ?

if so, why will fanyone still buy the voyage , just for the page turn buttons ? surely there is more to it than that ?

I cant get too excited about bookerly - it is on Kindle fire already & I struggled to spot the difference between it & caecilia

Really hate that type example. The "quietly" looked okay but the ligature version of "first" just sucks. What the heck was that thing the f and the used-to-be-an-i turned into? Sure wasn't any English letter that I know of?

Guess maybe it's a good thing I won't be getting a Kindle after all.

Seems like a big improvement to me. Typography on the Kindle has been terrible since its first launch. Out of curiously if the Kindle has been the worst ereader for typography what reader or app has been the best?

The voyage has the advantage of being smaller and lighter than the new PW, which appears to be the same size and weight as the previous PW.

It's because they messed up the kerning of the word in the ligature example -- it was laughably bad and immediately caught my attention.

Ligatures are used in most high quality print books. You've seen them your entire life, but may have never realized it.

They work best when the rest of the kerning is also done right, and done well you hardly notice them, yet they make the text much more readable.
