The BBC has just announced that Sir Terry Pratchett has died today, age 66.

A great loss.

I will note I haven't yet managed to finish his last book (not up to Snuff), I don't know whether he had it in him to write another book anyway... I suppose this is final confirmation that there will never be a Good Omens sequel.

... Obviously, death is a terrible thing regardless of whether I expect to lose a potential book over it.

How sad. I wonder if was able to die on his on terms. I know he had stated that he intended to use assisted suicide when he felt the time was right.

He died at home with his family and his cats. His publisher says he did not take his own life.

Tears. I just finished "Night Watch" this past Sunday. I'm spacing out the ones I haven't read, so as to retain the joy.

I'm sure that Terry would want us to celebrate his life and the wonderful literary legacy he's left us, not be saddened by his death. With a disease like Alzheimer's, a long life is not necessarily to be wished for.
