Aristotle: Meteorologica (On Meteorology)
Translated by E W Webster (1923). Aristotle’s explanations of comets, shooting stars, rain, hail, frost, earthquakes, thunder, lightning, rainbows etc. The passage on the rainbow (Book III, Ch. 4) has interested colour theorists and caused a lot of controversy. Aristotle described the rainbow as “three coloured”, explaining this via one of the first theories of colour.
