I am eagerly awaiting the first hands-on reports, unboxing videos, reviews and clueless comments from pundits.
This is THE first device with front-lit screen that fits into pocket and doesn't need a clunky cover. Plus, you do not have to carry your basic phone when you carry this. Plus, it has Android, so you can install an app for every single ebook format out there. |

Whoa! I never knew this was in production. Interesting. After all the doom and gloom about e-ink technology being on the way out, this is a good development.

Ehh, not impressed. Small screen, small storage space, no light for hard to read in places and old software. The only thing they did right was having a SD slot.

The front lit E-Ink screen means it will work under all lighting conditions.
It boasts access to over 1,000,000 apps, but I wonder how the E-Ink refresh rate will work with them? No camera. Even if the B/W display meant pictures would have to be viewed on another device to be viewed in color, a camera would have been perhaps a selling point. All in all a very intriguing device. It will be interesting to see the owner's reviews when they begin appearing. |

A dinosaur married a phone
The technology is really old! Gingerbread - really??? This phone is gonna have app issues. And what about the substrate - is it glass (and easily breakable)? |

But this one's a phone, too. I think the screen's too small, though. My phone has a slightly larger screen, and I need to be desperate to use it for reading. |

Clearly not for everyone, as it sports no high-end specs. But we have known that for over a year now, as it was first expected to launch in Summer 2013 and the basic specs didn't change too much.
For all those who can't live without a camera and entertainment (video and games) in a phone but want to try eInk on a phone and don't mind buying russian: Yotaphone is selling the first generation of their double-display-phone since last year already and say they will start sale of the second generation device before christmas. At a price. I gave up on the idea of a device that can care for all needs long ago (when Palm was still in business) and will have a look at the E43 for sure. I like the looks of it! I don't have a smartphone, although I don't really consider myself in the market for one either. Still, it looks like a fun device and I like that it is e-ink!
