Ah, did a re-read of that in the last few weeks. It had been awhile actually, and I'd forgotten so many of the details that didn't make the movie.

I discovered Flowers for Algernon in its short story form, in the early 60s. It had a huge impact on me.

Haven't read it for 35 years, and I only remember the mail story line, but I still remember the tears in my eyes at the end when he came back into his old class, a little bit dimmer then he was before it al started, and was greeted by his old teacher without seeming to remember what had happened.
