For those thinking of voting for The Cuckoo's Calling... The next book in the series is coming out in June. Reading books back to back in a series is always more enjoyable. So you probably want to vote for something else.
I hear Rules of Prey and Baltimore Blues are supposed to be very good. |

I agree that the Cuckoo's Calling can be read as stand alone, but since there is a second book, and it hasn't been published yet, how do you know that it really is stand alone. And do we really need another discussion about celebrities. And who want's to have a discussion, I'm just looking for a good read. As far as "secrecy", it has been discussed to death. You can read read the previous discussions and judge for yourself. In case anyone missed it, my previous post was firmly tongue-in-cheek. |

I thought this was interesting. Australia author Kerry Greenwood (the Phryne Fisher series) lives with the "registered wizard" with whom she fell in love with over 40 years ago. He looks like a wizard. Or me, with that hair, until I retired, except my hair still has a considerable amount of pepper mixed in with the salt.

If not, we should be. I've read both of the two leaders. I have no doubt which I would enjoy reading again. (Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed both books. But Cocaine Blues was just plain fun. While still being very much within the category for this month.

This is killing me. I really want an excuse to re-read Cocaine Blues, and no particular desire to re-read The Cuckoo's Calling. Come on you fence sitters, give us a vote here.

I believe the poll is closed, so Cuckoo's Calling it is. I would have liked to have a run-off vote though. Hopefully my reserved copy will come in time for me to participate.

Cocaine Blues lost. It's under a buck at Amazon. I just bought The Cuckoo's Calling for $13. It better be good.

It's good. It's not as good as Cocaine Blues, IMHO, but you'll enjoy it. But that price seems high. I recall paying $6 for it. Must have jacked it up with the new one coming.

Cuckoo's Calling available at overdrive libraries

When I bought it, the price was less than $6 and I saw it for less than that a few months later. I would think they would lower the price now to encourage people to get the new one. |
