Schubin, Ossip: O Thou, My Austria!. v1. 25 Mar 2014
Aloisia Kirschner (June 17, 1854 - February 10, 1934) was an Austrian novelist, born in Prague and favorably known under her pseudonym Ossip Schubin, which she borrowed from the novel Helena by Ivan Turgenev.
Excerpt At the words “Delphic oracle,” Krupitschka pricked up his ears. It annoyed him to have his master and the other gentlemen make use of words that he did not understand, and he determined to buy a foreign dictionary with the proceeds of the sale of his cantharides. Meanwhile, he noted down, in a dilapidated memorandum-book, “delphin wrackle,” muttering the while, “What sort of team is that, I wonder?” This work is assumed to be in the Life+70 public domain OR the copyright holder has given specific permission for distribution.
