OQO Model 01 handheld due October 14th

The Register is reporting that OQO's Model 01 Windows XP palmtop, which will run a full version of Windows XP, will be officialy launched on October 14 in San Francisco. It will have a 1GHz Transmeta processor, Bluetooth+WiFi, 256MB of RAM and a 20gb hard drive.

No price is mentioned, but from what I remember, the OQO won't come cheap

I read a review of this, and while the general feeling is very positive, the initial price of the unit (> $2000 US) is rather prohibitive and leaves it in the domain of Managers with big budgets and technogeeks with lots of money, at least for now.

But the price _will_ drop, and the competition will drive the features and price even further.... I can't wait.

Craig.
