Apple's AirPort Express Cracked

Jon Lech Johansen, the infamous cracker of CSS (the encryption used for commercial DVDs), has cracked the Airport Express crypto which uses a combination of AES and RSA to encrypt the audio stream.

Jon has also released a small tool called JustePort (requires Mono) which allows you to stream mpeg4 lossless files to your Airport Express.

For all hobby cryptologists among you, this is the hidden RSA key used by Airport Express:

I was going to say the same thing...he looks like a computerish guy so I'm not surprised that he cracked anything...you know what I mean?

Heh he might look like a textbook geek, but Jon shot to fame over his controversial program that bypassed DeCSS encryption schemes on DVDs. Good guy

So what does the airport have in encrypted streaming that I, an enduser, would have even the slightest interest in?

And of course, since it HAS to be asked: What does the airport stream that any given terrorist would be interested in, and does this posting of the encryption crack help them?

With the public key revealed, DVD Jon has helped pave the way for other software applications other than Apple iTunes to work with AirPort Express.

I agree.. that picture gives me the creeps also. That must have been taken by a coder trying to be a photographer!
