Thanks for the warning. Kindle is not my main reading app but I quarantined the latest version anyway, it's been sitting in my iTunes update list for some days. I don't like to install new versions immediately for apps that are important to me. Looks like in this case it was a good idea to wait.

According to Amazon's statement in the page linked, the problem is with the registration, so I assume that your data will not be lost, you might just be temporarily unable to access it, and not even that if all you have to do is re-register your app. But maybe it's better to wait for the next update, just to be on the safe side...

I updated last night before I saw the warning. I've already opened the app and don't see any missing books.

I updated last night and have had no problems on both my iPad and iPod, however there is now another update available on both devices. I daren't update now though after reading the warning. I don't fancy re-downloading 500 odd books.

Hmm, lesson to me. I saw a couple of items to be updated and I just tapped the update all button. I saw a couple of brief descriptions beside the app icons but I didn't read anything further before running the update. In future, I'll read more before I update.
Having said that, I'm not experiencing any problems with it. |

They posted an update earlier today that fixed the problem: 3.6.2.
3.6.1 was the version that had problems, I don't know how long it was even available. |

I'll update later today and take it for a spin. I wonder if this update fixed the embedded fonts issue in KF8 wherein they don't display in Kindle for iOS. The update description looks like it is rather lackluster update, as usual.
EDIT: Nope they didn't fix the embedded fonts not displaying issue. Really Amazon, get the damn thing fixed! Last edited by jswinden; 02-28-2013 at 11:14 AM. |

Drats! I was caught!
Everything in my Kindle app disappeared but as soon as I logged in I could see all the books available for download. So that's what I did. I'm not sure they were all there though... What gets me is that all my bookmarks are gone. I usually read a dozen books at a time doing research. Pfffrt! Gone! We should all be compensated with a free purchase. |
