putting music on an SD card without Sony software
I'm trying to put some music on my reader, can I "sideload" it to an SD-Card, too? And if so, how would I name the folder? The manual is blissfully ignorant on the topic

You should probably avoid putting the MP3s directly into the root directory of the SD card, as I think there's a limit to the number of root files you can have. But apart from that it's your choice. Just a word of warning, similar to ebooks, the Sony will not use your directory structure to organise your music, it will use the metadata in the mp3tags to populate its database. Lastly, I'm sure you probably know this already, but playing audio files will eat your battery pretty fast. |

I just made my own music folder on the sd card and transferred the music over. the device read them and they played fine.

Just copy them to the SD card, insert it into the ereader, then open the music app. Surely if you were "trying" you'd have tried that first....

The T1 has no sound capability so why music on the SD card?

Actually the T1 did have the ability to play audio files with headphones. I remember trying a couple of music files on it out of curiosity. But this is an ancient thread and I'm sure the people who were discussing it back in 2012 have moved on to other devices by now.

I've listened to some short stories and podcasts, but not full-length books.
