The Mother of all Cookbooks
Granted, this isn't about writing fiction, but it is still "publishing"
My idea is this. Tablet PCs are coming down in price. Some time in the not too distant future we will see a $99 iPad/Android tablet, and I thought it should be possible to embed it in a kitchen cabinet door. With the Mother of all Cookbooks running on it. Turn it on, enter some items you have in the fridge and pantry, set up a calory goal, check your nutrion level and available cooking time, then have it come up with a slew of recepies. For every moment there should be a video available with explanations and hands on instructions. Since it is a tablet, it can be updated continuously. Question. Could this be done by a no-name, or will its success be dependent on having a brand name chef as its "author"? (Think Gordon Ramsey or similar) |

Somone has to write those celebrity chef books. But the fridge manufacturers are already working on something like that, with recipe suggestions based on fridge content and online ordering from partner supermarkets when there is anything missing.

AllRecipes.com is trying really hard to be this, but there are a lot of programming factors involved that make it tricky. But they've been around for several years and continuously improving.
