Dictionary other than English?
Just got my PE
Really glad I bought it...but,there is something I want to ask. I read, or at least trying to, to read books in German, and so I need dictionary for it. Sure i can download another dictionary, but i wish to use the default built-in one. https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=142773 I followed the instruction here : - Download python 3.2.2 - Download German-english dictionary - Fire the command....and fail It said : File "pedictb.py", line 44 print "%d / %d\r" % (_ops, words_count) SyntaxError: invalid syntax Have no idea what's wrong here ( i got no experience at all with programming)....can anyone help me? I'm trying to reply in that thread, but it said the thread is closed. And, it is possible, after the dictionary replaced, to read german book, highlight one word, and search in dictionary?or should i input it manually? Thx all |

It won't replace it, it's another app. But very convenient in use also. You can just open it on LCD part and insert a word you want to find.

Default Dictionary other then English : Solved!!
I tried again using Python 2.7.2 and somehow it worked this time.
I suspected my german dictionary that I download is corrupted so i download it again, and this time it works! But, it only work using Python 2.7.2. Python 3.2.2 keep failing and gave error message. I copied the new dictionary to my PE using root explorer, and it worked as expected. I can read using E-ink, tap the word, use search and...voila...the meaning show up in LCD part. Thx you so much, Javese! ^^ Last edited by mint121; 11-06-2011 at 12:27 PM. |

it more convenient using the default dictionary, all i need to do is tap the word, and tap the search button in my E-ink and the answer show up. No need to manually insert it anymore. |

Mint! That's awesome!
Good work and good help from the good people here! I have Colordict which I occasionally use as Vit suggested. Usually I do the easier thing, which is to search with Google or Wikipedia if the word I want isn't in the built-in dictionary. |

I use Collins Dictionary too, but the i have to insert each word manually
But with this tweak, no need to do that ^^ For me, as a student learning new language, it is very useful feature. The only problem is, it kinda difficult to find the dictionary itself. I can not find it in stardict website, but luckily I found it in some other site. |
