Help, I broke networking...
Hi,
I am having some difficulties... 1) I have three identical wired profiles and can't seem to delete the rascals. There is a hint in the setup that asserts the profile can be deleted by deleting the name and then hitting OK, for me this does not seem to work 2) I also have a wireless profile and apparently this profile is *always* picked. I choose "wired" in the network profiles but returning to the profiles page shows that "wireless" has been reselected. 3) The wired connection never blinks the light when I hold the "connect to IDS" button. If I run the connection manager in mrxvt directly the output is always directed to wlan0. How can I shift between the two modes of connection? Why can I not delete a profile ( where are they stored...) Thanks for any insights Jerry |

They are stored in your /mnt/settings/registry/registry.xml
If you delete that file and restart, it will delete all of your settings (time zone, network profiles, flip bar direction, shell access, etc), but should fix your networking issues. |

That's a bit gross, but should work.
Is this another issue with the new content lister / networking code introduced with 2.11? I'm still on 2.10.2 and just created and removed a wired networking profile using the method mentioned above (clearing the profile's name and hitting OK). Should somebody / we create a list in the wiki "Things That Broke With 2.11"? Updating to 2.11 is quite easy, what about downgrading? Is this possible with "Reflash from CF", flashing say 2.10.2? Hi,
Actually I found out that the networking registry profiles are kept in the file /mnt/settings/registry/nwprofiles.xml. I found that if I deleted this file that I could then recreate a new batch of settings. I don't know how a "casual" use could accomplish this... It also appears that wireless connections will require dhcp. (At least that is what /usr/bin/wireless.sh asserts) Jerry |

So I had an issue with networking where I had two profiles (wireless) that were identical except for the "enabledBroadcast" flag was true on one and false on the other. I deleted one by going to the device manager screen, then selecting network profiles, then wireless (which showed the two profiles in the bottom), then press the trashcan icon (highlights), select the profile, then select trashcan again. And poof! the profile was deleted. (this is 2.11) You might try that next time to see if it helps.
