Pocket Edge discontinued?

I was reading PE customer reviews on Amazon.com.
One of it says that the device is discontinued, hence the price drop. It also says Entourage is developing a slate tablet.

Is this true?

Dear Sammy2K.
I boast myself of living on top of a coconut tree, or spending my life inside a thermos, but now I have to dispute the title with you. :P

We have been heatedly discussing this topic for the last two days, including a direct intervention of the blog article's author who jumped in.

Go and read:

Cheers!

lol, Paula!!

Having just read Sammy's PE review I can tell you why he/she missed the controversy! Sammy has been very busy learning almost everything there is to know about the Pocket eDGe in just a few days. That leaves no time for reading extraneous forum posts!!

I s'pose it's probably true the PE is being discontinued, but I am still hoping for a last minute reprieve from the Powers that Be.

Over here in Europe both the EE and PE appear to be available at almost full price. See http://www.ebookreaderstore.fr/searc...ntourage+edge+ and http://entourageedge.eu/#9
If they were going at a reasonable discount I would consider getting another EE to play with - take apart and mess with the hardware and see if it can be improved.

I read that as discontinued from the B&H inventory, which may or may not be because it's discontinued by enTourage officially. Maybe that's just my native optimism . . . .

Ivan, maybe you can talk one of the sellers at ebay (http://shop.ebay.com/i.html?_nkw=ent...:MEFSRCHX:SRCH) into shipping to Europe. I'd love to see what you'd come up with!!

I too am an optimist but, when you click on either an EE or a PE and the small disclaimer on BPH's website says: This item has been discontinued by the manufacturer and is no longer available, to me this is a good indicator that Entourage is no longer making them. However, I hope they consider their loyal customer (some who own multiple devices) and provide even the simplest accessories like a battery, a stylus etc. Without such support they are going to have a difficult time having repeat customers.
