Cyrillic (Russian) recognition
Is it possible to make Calibre convert russian books, for example from RTF to PDF?

Yes, but non-ascii support in RTF is shaky. Use Microsoft Word, and save/export the file as HTML (filtered), (or possibly Web Page(filtered)). Specify UTF-8 as the encoding if it gives you the option, and then drag the html file to Calibre's main window.

Thanks, it does work but in a limited way : the images disappear. I've tried to convert from PDF to PDF but the images come out in reverse. Is there no other solution?

Ldose's method will no doubt work but I believe that Open Office is more adept at handling forign langueges than Microsoft is.
