Nook 2: Possible Pixel Qi Display?
Since I saw the "leaked" photo of the Nook 2, I did some research on Pixel Qi screens.
What I found was this page with a Pixel Qi screen that has been available for a whole to allow DIYers to change their netbook screens into a Pixel Qi screen. Here is part of the description: "This one-of-a-kind, plug-and-play 10.1-inch display offers two modes--an easy-to-read, real color, multi-media mode or a crisp, low power e-reader mode. The sunlight-ready, e-reader mode makes it easy to use outdoors." I may be reaching here. However, wouldn't it be cool if the Nook 2 was a 10.1 inch touchscreen tablet running Android with a screen that could switch from color mode to e-reader mode? Maybe it's just wishful thinking. However, since the technology is out there, it would not be hard to design. |

the little leaks they've let out indicate it's going to be 8 inch. and if the link to a screen protector last night was real, it said the screen was LCD

The ruored size and previous anouncements for displays seems to favor/match mirisol more. Oddly, I have also noticed a number of google ads for mirsol ebook screens in the past day while searching and reading about nook 2 rumors.

Another thing that I have been surprised to find is just how bad the quality of the information is on most of the sites speculating on the nook 2. Most seem to just repost what the last site said with no new information or it even seeming like that old spread a message down the line game and see how distorted it can get.
I even saw one site that reports on the nookcolor.com site, claiming it was recently registered and proved what was coming Tuesday. Thing is, a five second check shows that is was registered March 9th. Not sure that counts as recently registered about an Oct 26th press conference, and being posted on the 24th. |

Hmm...
http://www.businesswire.com/portal/s...08&newsLang=en The timing of that announcment matches pretty closely when nookcolor.com was registered, and the availablity date mentioned also is pretty close being q4 2010. |

Based on the initial reports and the leaked photo, it is almost certainly a widescreen 7" display (about the size of the PRS-950 screen). This is too big to be a mirisol display. The initial Pixel Qi screens are 10", they will be producing a 7" display (Pixel Qi Tablet Availability, DIY Screen Success and other updates):

There are other variants among LCD screens, but my guess is that the Nook has a mainstream LCD, with a back light and a capacitive touch screen. |
