[Old thread] Issues to download news with Calibre - keeps working, but nothing hap...
Hi,
I have just installed Calibre on my WIndows Vista PC. Everything seems to be working ok, BUT the NEWS FEED takes ages!. I select the news that I want, have done the setup for daily upload and then have requested an upload. On the bttm right corner it says it's woking on it.. and it took more than 1 hour to upload news feeds. Is this normal? I would have expected this to work fast in order to be able to upload very quickly every morning... Anyone knows why it took so long? David |

Are you saying that it took that long to get(download) the news to Calibre, or to send it from Calibre to a device?
How many recipes were you getting? Which recipes? How long do transfers of other books take to your device? What OS? |

Windows Vista
What took ages was to receive the news in Calibre - lmore than 1 hour for 3 news: - The guardian (UK) - BBC news (UK) - Liberation (France) Transfering into my device (Kindle 3) via wifi was very quick! It's really getting the news in Calibre that was an issue. |

- data rate is not a problem at all - very good broadband.
- Altogether it was like 11 Mega so really not big Run overnight: this means leaving the computer on all night? Is there a way to have this run without the computer on? THAT would be fantastic! :-) |

I am running fairly old lap top (Acer 7720, 1.5GHz Dual Core, 1Gb ram) Takes around 20-30 mins to make up the news feed. Most of the time seems to be taken up "trimming" and creating the MOBI output. Despite this the software is excellent and I have found ti to be most useful. |
