Kindle Unlimited books on Kobo?
I'm looking at some books on Amazon that are in Kindle Unlimited, I'm also seeing them on Kobo. I thought KU books had to be exclusive to KU, has something changed, or is that still the case?

AFAIK nothing has changed. Most books have to be exclusive when published through KDP (self-pub, some smaller pubs). KU books from larger publishers (and possibly some of the higher popularity self-pubs) are under no such requirement and have different deals when it comes to KU.

Are they self pubbed or is there an actual publisher?
There are some different deals.
If they are self-published, then they will shortly be removed from KU and maybe Amazon.

They two I saw are JMS Books (a publisher) and one is a pre order.

Maybe they are allowed then. It's better for me as at least I can decide by price who to buy from. I just hadn't seen it before.

Then it is a different deal. I have known since it started there were some not exclusive books. KU needed some bigger names to attract readers.

I spotted it this morning with a self publisher author. Maybe authors are hoping Amazon won't notice

There are two other possibilities, they may have previously uploaded to Kobo before deciding exclusively with Amazon and because they sold so many books at Kobo, they forgot they put it there. Or they may have used a third party upload service and it hasn't been taken down everywhere yet.
The author will get an email from Amazon giving them so many days to get their books off the other site(s) or they will be pulled from Select and not get any of the KU money.
