Did something happen to the Era?
I was looking the other day at the Era Color on amazon (US). Noted that it was only $40 more than the 16GB B&W Era. Went in today to check on it again, and all 3 are gone from Amazon, the 16GB and 64GB B&W as well as the color, their pages are gone. The only thing in the list are the myriad of covers. They don't even have the unavailable pages for them, but rather "this page does not exist."
Have they stopped selling Eras in the US? |

TechInn (not a U.S. company, but ships to the U.S.) has them in stock. I should mention that I've never done business with TechInn so I can't, personally, vouch for them. https://www.tradeinn.com/techinn/en/...874&country=us |

I have the 16GB model, but I was thinking of upgrading to the 64GB BW model, but for $40 more, I could get a 32GB color one. Was playing out all of the options, and keeping what I have is a valid option as well. |

Ultimately, it's up to you and your sensitivity to such things, but I think the colour screens are perfectly fine as they are and don't pose any issues for reading. |

I think some people want to use it without any front light to save energy or whatever, in which case, yes it would be darker. But I always have front light on so for me B&W reading is perfectly fine. I like having the color even though mostly it applies to cover thumbnails, headings, and of course ability to use different highlight colors. I will not purchase another B&W only eReader. My one complaint is that it (and the PB mobile app) seems to have trouble with fixed layout ePub (comics or other things). It may be something I need to fix in my conversion workflow but these look fine with Thorium reader, Apple Books etc, they pass epubcheck. And it will not do facing page fixed layout. Even 6" Kindles do this, and this has twice the display area. So to the extent I read comics, I'm using PDF. It will read CBZ but I don't see any advantage to doing so (for example no ToC). |

You can use a tablet and apps like ReadEra or any other epub3 fixed layout app. Last edited by HvdB; 10-10-2024 at 09:14 PM. |
