You asked how you can test JB.
Did you try KOReader or not? If it doesn’t work and its crash.log file says “unable to open framebuffer”, then yes, start over with LanguageBreak JB method. |

Ok, so it shows on KUAL menu but it doesnt do anything, no crash, no message, a blink thats all. Could it be that the jailbreak is there but missing this K5 JailBreak HotFix? |

Yes, try installing it, then do restart twice in a row.

It just sat there like the others but it didn’t erase it neither.
So I had put the kual hotfix because it was the one I use the first time for my version of KOA3 5.12.4. So now I tried the Kual coplate and now everything works. I have no idea why but it works. thanks |

Just followed these instructions for Jailbreaking my Kindle Voyage. Worked great.
Been weening myself off Amazon and now my Kindle is running KOreader which is so much better. Thanks to all the developers and those involved in making this possible. |

I've had my kindle in airplane mode for a couple years now. Running Kindle v. 5.14.1.1 on my Paperwhite signature edition (PW5 11th gen). I have KUAL v. 202202113,a and KOReader v. 2022.03.1. What's the best way to update? I downloaded the latest KOReader version. I just extract that to my kindle's root directory and then hit update koreader in the kual menu? What about updating KUAL? And do I need to update MRPI as well?
It's been so long and it's been working great for years so I don't want to mess anything up at this point. |

Why don’t you just update KOReader from its own menu? When you open KOReader, go to top menu, last icon (hamburger), then Update etc
You don’t need to update anything else, if KOReader works Last edited by mergen3107; 07-08-2024 at 08:12 AM. |

I was having an issue with some epub encoding which I think was fixed in a Koreader update. As for the Koreader only update, I wasn't sure if there would be backwards compatibility issues so I figured I'd just update everything (except the Kindle firmware)

Sorry, there was a typo in my post above.
“You don’t need to update everything else”. KOReader should have backwards compatibility. If it doesn’t, let us know, attach logs - it should be fixed. |

Perhaps not material to this thread but my Kindle PW4 seemingly horked and upon a restart, removed my account and KOReader. I'm looking to jailbreak it but it's parked on 5.10.1.3 which seems to be too old for current jailbreaks with WatchThis supporting back to 5.13.4 for this device. Is it best to dig in the archives to pull an older jailbreak version or is there a way to safely navigate to a newer Kindle software build?
EDIT: Nix this ask. Pulled an older BIN file from Archive.org and updated it safely to a reliable version of the Kindle software. Last edited by frailtyy; 07-21-2024 at 05:31 AM. |

Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but is anyone working on a new Jailbreak for firmware >= 5.16.10.0.1? And if so, would there be a way to contribute to the effort?
