Problem with SD cards on Jetbook

When I connected my jetbook (regular) to the Windows PC with the SD card inserted, "My Computer" as well as the Explorer showed that two mount points have been added, one is for the jetbook main storage ("h:"), and the other is for the SD card ("i:").

However, when I click on the SD card drive "i" on the explorer, the PC says "Please insert a disk into removable disk i:" When I checked the drive's properties, the memory space was nil.

I have 2 new SD cards, one is 2GB (verbatim) and the other is 16GB (sandisk). I tried them both, but they gave the same problem.

I'm very certain that the SD cards aren't faulty, because they are easily detected with other devices and they are brand new.

Does anyone have the same problem? How could I solve it, I'm very frustrated at the mo.

By the way, I'm running Vista on my PC, and I do keep it updated.

Help please...

Format your cards

You have to format your cards with fat32

The very first time you use a new card do not do a fast format as this only formats the directory structure not the bits on the storage media.

Some cards you do not have to do this with as the manufacturer does the complete format for you. But it is a good practice to take up whenever you by new cards.

The camera manufacturers have figured this out and have learned to automatically do this always.

The jetbook is a linux device and they have not put the error checking in the unit to correct this problem. It will probably be in future versions.

Thanks, gr8npwrfl. Thing is, I couldn't format the SD card when it's loaded with the Jetbook, because the SD couldn't be accessed, even though a drive letter was given to the SD card.

I think I might have found a workaround. I transferred an ebook to the SD card with a cardreader, and then inserted the SD card back into the Jetbook. Now when I reconnected the JB to the PC, I was able to access both the Jetbook drive and the SD drive!

Very strange! So glad it worked.
