Question/advice: Register offline/unregistered 5.16.21 anticipating jailbreak?

Hi,

Last week I got a used/refurbished PW 11 at a reasonable price, but I didn’t research the jailbreaking options well enough. What would be the best course of action for me to take, anticipating a jailbreak?

Firmware 5.16.21 is jailbreakable with WinterBreak once your Kindle is registered. You will have to be careful about deleting any update files that are being downloaded to keep it from updating to 5.18.1 which is not jailbreakable.

You can use LanguageBreak on 5.16.2.1. It will work offline and unregistered.

Oops, I misread your firmware version.

LanguageBreak won't work on 5.16.21. WinterBreak is your only option, and the Kindle needs to be registered for that.

@oioioibaka You can't register the device while it offline, it needs an Internet connection for that.
To avoid firmware update getting completely downloaded while you're typing in login information what you can do is be quick while doing the registration + turn of WiFi as soon as your done + intentionally use a slow Internet connection ( switch your phone to 2G only signal > turn on WiFi hotspot on your phone > connect your Kindle to that hotspot signal instead of connecting it to your home router) + when finished with registration connect your Kindle to a computer via USB cable and make sure to delete the "update.partial.temp" file (or whatever is the filename Amazon currently uses) like @DNSB said.

Thank you very much! The kindle modding site worked perfectly. I definitely had to delete the temp download file over 10 times. I also followed multiple youtube guides to have multiple sources of info - I would have beat myself up if I were to brick this device - and they only gave half-assed information, with many people in the comments complaining about bricking their kindles. Makes me wonder if those youtubers are Amazon plants, only there to take revenge
